OpenCore Boot Preparation
First, we need to download the OpenCore boot package. You can get the latest version from the official GitHub repository: https://github.com/acidanthera/OpenCorePkg/releases
After downloading, we’ll find that OpenCore contains the following main components:
OpenCore Package Structure
- Docs: Contains OC’s latest configuration documents, version update changes, ACPI sample files, and Sample.list configuration file templates
- IA32: Contains EFI boot files for 32-bit older machines
- Utilities: OC official integrated tools are stored here
- X64: Contains EFI boot files for 64-bit current mainstream machines
OpenCore provides 2 configuration file templates, Sample.plist and SampleCustom.plist. We typically use Sample.plist as our configuration file.
EFI Folder Structure
The EFI part is the main focus of OpenCore. Here are the main EFI folder functions:
BOOT Folder
BOOT folder containing BOOTx64.efi boot file.
OC/ACPI Folder
Stores compiled SSDT files, all in .aml format. These files are used to fix and improve ACPI tables, ensuring hardware works properly.
